Innoculated a woodchip bed recently. They've been tearing up the bed digging and making holes exposing the mycelium..likely looming for acorns but I'm sure they'll enjoy the mushrooms when they show 😓

Squirrels will eat just about anything. Especially if you don’t want them to.

Hmm I am starting a morel grow zone, looks like it needs to be squirrel and deer proofed. I live in the country so that would be a major concern when growing my harvest of tasty morels.

Squirrels will even hang mushrooms from branches to dry them out. What better way to spread spores then to trade food for a lift?

was trying to VERIFY if Deer ate mushrooms (a suspicion of mine). I have HERDS of them (and ensuing Lyme disease) Because this past Spring I looked for Morels -all conditions were prime-temps/trees/rainfall BUT DID NOT find a one. So it could be the squirrels? But do the Deer eat them also? please let me know so I can give up tromping in the Poison Ivy and Tick infested woods!

When I was out mushroom hunting I found mushrooms with big bites taken out of them. I thought it was deer. Could have been a 5 foot tall squirrel I suppose.
